Wedding Stories

RETIRED
Teacher Cryssi Lucas + Lollie Wagoner

The thought of capturing two people's love on their wedding day is such a beautiful thing. You envision the dress, the moments, the tears, the embracing and laughter of family and friends. Then reality sets in and you are given exactly 30 minutes with the sun directly above you to capture a story that has been dreamed of since the bride was four-years old! Gulp.

In this moment it is your job to not just take pictures, but to take beautiful pictures at just the right time capturing all the imperative moments. You only have one chance to do it right. There is no do-over. Are you ready?

Wedding Stories is a course designed to teach you just how to tell two people's love story from beginning to end in a way that is authentic to them and authentic to you as the artist. We will delve into customer relations, finding clients that share your vision, workflow patterns, side shooting, and many more juicy tidbits.

This six week course will inspire you to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of it all and truly connect with your Mr. and Mrs. to tell a story that sets them (and you) apart.

Topics covered include:

Getting to know your Mr. and Mrs. personally
Making the best of all lighting situations
Natural posing and being quick on your feet
Using the little things to tell a big story
Managing your wedding workflow as efficiently as possible
Editing that compliments your album design

The Schedule

All participation and interaction for this class will take place in a private online forum. (Registered students will receive instructions on how to access the forum a few days before class begins.)

On the first Monday of class, Cryssi and Lollie will share Lesson 1 in the forum and e-mail it to every student. They will also be available during the week to answer questions and facilitate discussions in the forum as you read and work through your lessons.

Homework will be due on Sunday and critiques/reviews will take place the following Monday. Each week will follow the same pattern.

The beauty of this class and every other class at DEFINE is that you can read, practice, and participate throughout the week whenever it is convenient for you- from any timezone, anywhere you have Internet access, at any time of day. Most students spend 3-5 hours per week “in class.”

The least I can do is brag about this wedding stories sassafras class through the Define. I have LONGED to go to their workshop but couldn’t really afford it. I was SO excited to see that they were offering an online/interactive class that was within my budget. I was SHOCKED when I went on to the website early and actually GOT a coveted seat. I anxiously awaited EVERY lesson, EVERY assignment, and EVERY critique. I craved every bit of expertise they could throw my way. You can tell that this is their heart.. so much so that they are willing to give it away.

I learned SO much about branding, vision, and how to be okay being different. It was a breath of fresh air to have a “famous” photog pair telling me I didn’t have to be the same or do the same things as every other successful photographer out there. I could be successful being me and doing what I love.

They are motivated out of love and unfortunately you can’t find that many places. I’m STILL longing to go to that workshop but i can’t help but brag every chance I get about the bang for my buck I got in this class! Love those sassy sisters!

I feel so fortunate to have taken The Define School’s “Wedding Stories” class with the Sassyfras sisters. Even though everything was conducted virtually, it all felt very real and personal.

Each week the assignments were in-depth, and gave me new and innovative ideas about how to approach my work. Lollie and Chrissy shared great information about interacting with clients and getting the most out of each wedding, not just for the couple but also for ourselves.

I really appreciated the tips they shared for creating a business that allows you to focus on your own vision, your own way of seeing the world, instead of always trying to be someone else’s eyes behind the camera.

The class really pushed me to think deeply about who I am as a photographer, and how to work towards continuing to blossom as that individual.

I’m also so happy to maintain contact with my classmates through our ongoing Facebook group. This has become a built-in online forum of talented and creative photographers from all over the world who are happy to share ideas, critique work, or provide insight.

The class was not only a great investment because of the content and creativity shared during, but also for the ongoing community it created for me and the other students.

I definitely recommend this class for anyone who wants to further their business, develop their skills, and hone in on who they are as a photographer.

    Thank you, Sassy Sisters!

Sasssyfras’s Wedding Stories class was incredible!

Every week I couldn’t wait to get my lesson in my email, not only because it had such good information but because it was always creatively done. Lauren and Christen were not just concerned with teaching technical aspects of photography. They addressed struggles and the business side of the field as well.I really felt that every week they shared their hearts and business with us.

Since taking their class, my photography business has most definitely grown! Taking their advice and tips into consideration led me to make some changes in my photography business.

Those changes have doubled my Facebook followers and almost tripled my shoots for 2013.

I enjoyed their class so much and am very glad I took it. I highly recommend it for any photographer!

I just want to say how thankful I am to Christen and Lauren for helping me see how I can embrace light in all forms and fashions. Also for helping me look at things in a different way, and striving to step out of my comfort zone. Thank you!

You have no idea how much I have grown since your class 🙂

I have been following Sassyfras Studios for 2 years now. I couldn’t ever seem to make it to a workshop and was bummed. When they offered the online class I jumped at the opportunity and was not disappointed. Each week was a great lesson with great visuals.

I’ll admit I was a teeny bit worried because I went to school for photography and thought they might go over things I knew BUT it wasn’t like that at all. They had loads of great information for us.

The homework was really good, too. It didn’t only challenge me but also benefited my current weddings and my sales. Holler!

I love love that they actually critiqued my work and responded to my assignments. Also I made some great cyber-friends. It can be a bit lonely in the world of competing photographers. Making friends who want to see you succeed is amazing.

If you can take the class you would be crazy not to!
