Your business has a story. Your image making and art have a unique narrative.

Clients want to connect with who you are, what you do and why you do it. The most powerful way for them to experience this is through motion, sound, and the reality of your story. The most compelling way for them to connect with you is through VIDEO.

Naz Films is a true artist and master videographer, shooting weddings, family/lifestyle and commercial videography. He is bringing all of his expertise and inspiration to the DEFINE community through this class in which he will teach any photographer or business owner to use whatever camera or phone they have that can shoot video to capture the story of their dream and their work.

During this class, students will be guided through creating their very own video telling the story of their photography studio or any other type of creative business. At the end of class you can have a short video ready to post on your site and/or social media that will share your story and give prospective and current clients a meaningful way to connect with you.

WEEK ONE: What is Your Story? – Explore what you want to share with the world! You’ll analyze what makes a compelling story and learn how to assemble a scene to elicit a specific response from your audience, and how sound is used to create emotion.

WEEK TWO: Your Point of View – How to develop your story, from fostering an idea to creating a visual treatment to finalizing a shot list.

WEEK THREE: Being Prepared – A crucial piece of creating a successful video is your technical preparation. Understanding your equipment, evaluating applicable technology options, and holding a basic understanding of your editing software will set you up for success.

WEEK FOUR: Making it – It’s here! This is the week where you push forward to making your video and actually shoot and edit it. You will also learn about social media and how to both prepare and share your video.

The Schedule

All participation and interaction for this class will take place in a private online forum. (Registered students will receive instructions on how to access the forum a few days before class begins.)

On the first Monday of class, Naz will share Lesson 1 in the forum and e-mail it to every student. He will be available during the week to answer questions and facilitate discussions in the forum as you read and work through your lessons.

Homework will be due on Sunday and personal critiques will take place the following Mondays. Each week will follow the same pattern.

The beauty of this class and every other class at DEFINE is that you can read, practice, and participate throughout the week whenever it is convenient for you- from any timezone, anywhere you have Internet access, at any time of day. Most students spend 3-5 hours per week “in class.”

If you have any questions, please feel free to email
