“My journey as an artist began years ago, and has taken me much soul-searching to wade through a lot of the noise and external voices telling me what I “should” be doing.
It is my hope that by sharing my journey and some of the tools that have helped me, that I can be a midwife of sorts to the unique creative voice within you.
I am a documentary family and wedding photographer and an artist seeking to express myself and the transcendent beauty of this magical, interesting, difficult, glorious gift of a life I’m living through everyday stories. I love to photograph the quotidian beauty in my life and others’, capturing clients’ unique family cultures within the walls of their homes.
On any given summer morning you might find me (miraculously) alone watering my big garden or walking my sweet Labradoodle, Molly, through my favorite Tacoma neighborhoods to a great coffee shop where I will hesitate about what to order and eventually get my standard: a cortado. I dream of summer evenings spent drinking gin and tonics with friends and family in my garden. Or eating croissants at a cafe in Paris. One of these things is more realistic than the other.”
Jessica Uhler lives in Tacoma, Washington (best kept secret of the PNW) with her husband and four very different kids, whose presence always reminds her what really matters at the end of the day (hint: not my social media following). Her work has been featured on the Huffington Post, Holl & Lane magazine, Motherhood Revised magazine, local gallery exhibitions, and multiple industry blogs. She is one of the original contributors to the international photography collective Sham of the Perfect.
