The hands-on approach that stem has ensures that the student can use their skill immediately they leave school; students can develop adaptability, communication skill, research, and more. Some of the most common careers and jobs that stem degree holders could hold are petroleum engineers, software engineers, physicists, web developers, and many others.

In recent years stem has developed into STEAM, which holds the four divisions in the STEM but has arts added to it, which also later has become STREAM, which is art and reading and writing also included.
