It’s almost time to ring in the new year and whether you’re hoping to build upon the progress you made in 2015 or want to wipe the slate clean and create something completely new and exciting next year, our January classes have inspiration in spades with four brand new classes and six returning favorites.
Registration for January classes opens on Cyber Monday and it will come with lots of goodies to help you bring creative cheer to you or someone you love this Holiday season (see the end of this blog post for more information.)
But in the meantime, like you, the DEFINE team is taking the Thanksgiving week to spend time with our families, counting our many blessings, and overdosing on tryptophan. Enjoy your time away with us, just don’t forget to meet us back here, online on Monday, November 30th at 9am to register for your favorite class.
If you’ve ever landed in January, full of the post-Holiday blues, stuck inside by winter weather, facing downtime and the accompanying self-doubt, then Posy Quarterman’s new class is for you. In Forward Momentum: New Year, Best You Posy will walk you through implementing a game plan to share your successes from the 2015 year for others to see and help you to plan intentionally for the new year. Class includes a $50 gift certificate to Artifact Uprising to help you print your 2015 portfolio.
Learn to see the everyday minutia of your life as pieces of a larger mosaic and create an artful documentation of your month, year, and life in iPHONEOGRAPHY // Snapshot to Heirloom with Asleigh Peak. This class will cover some basic technical skills to create better photographs with your mobile device, and then will help you get organized and create tangible heirlooms with your work throughout the year. This course includes a kit to create a handmade, wooden photo box and a $25 Artifact Uprising gift certificate for a set of photo prints to fit inside.
You may use Adobe Lightroom but do you use it to its full potential? Or do you want to get started but you’re not sure how? In Living in Lightoom, Kellie Hatcher will lead you through the full gamut of Lightroom functions starting with the most basic features for culling and organizing your images and then moving into editing and making books and galleries. You’ll maximize your efficiency and speed up your workflow with functions you didn’t even know existed!
Your business has a story and the most powerful way for clients to experience this is through motion and sound. We’re excited to have Naz Films bring his expertise and artistry to DEFINE, teaching any photographer or business owner how to use whatever video-capable camera or phone they have, to capture the story of their dream and their work. By the end of VIDEO // Sharing Your Story, you will create a short video ready to post on your website and/or social media, giving prospective and current clients a meaningful way to connect with you and your business.
Un-branding with Sharon Mckeeman will help you to strip back distractions or start from square-one to create a portfolio you can be proud of as you curate your work, write your heart out, navigate social media, create marketing materials and have the opportunity to create and test-drive a Squarespace portfolio website. // Sponsored by Squarespace
Break through into family/lifestyle photography or to another level with your existing photography business with Audrey Blake Breheney, who will bring her experience in the tech, theater and photography industries together in Breaking Through, teaching you theater improvisation techniques that will empower you to confidently enter any situation with your camera, make everyone feel comfortable and draw out the images you want to create. // sponsored by Squarespace and Borrowlenses

As artists, we each have a thousand stories inside of us, just waiting to be told. In The Unapologetic Artist,Carolyn Mara Borlenghi will take you through the process of unearthing your stories, from brainstorming to giving them form and function, curating them, and finally delivering them to the world. Each student will walk away with a completed personal project and the opportunity to be featured in an Artifact Uprising book along with your fellow classmates. // sponsored by Artifact Uprising
From Auto to Manual with Jessica Cudzilo will help you take your DSLR off ‘auto’ and harness all the power it holds. Jessica will enable you step out from behind your camera’s automatic settings to take control of your creative process, making the art you long for and becoming a photographer in the truest sense of the word.
