Many photographers get caught up in photographing subject matter that is expected. It is either prescribed by mentors or is an extension of other photographers’ inspiration. Many times, though, this is not a true indication of what the artist is capable of, or what truly inspires the individual behind the lens. Anyone can learn the technical side of photography - f-stops, shutters speeds, use of light - it can all be taught. What cannot be taught are style, inspiration, and creative interpretation? And these things are of the utmost importance.

The artists that make a splash are innovators; they do what has never been done. The only way to do this yourself is to forge your own path with the unique gifts you have been given. I believe that as artists we should put more emphasis on selling ourselves and less emphasis on selling our photos. YOU must come to the table and show up in your work. The question is… how do you achieve this?

This is what we cover in this three-week class. I walk you through my own process of seeking and finding inspiration and will give you the tools to use to look within yourself and find your own inspiration again and again.

Homework will be assigned to challenge you, and can be used as a practical tool in preparation for a shoot. Come prepared to spend time on you and grow as an individual and an artist.

“Above all else, I believe in love and kindness toward one another. My children push me toward this daily, and are the perfect muses for all that I do. My career found its origin playing dress-up with my children and taking pictures, and I am delighted that I now get to play dress-up and take pictures of other children as my life’s work. I have a hippy soul with a touch of OCD. I believe that animals are friends, not food, and I might not remember your name but I will always remember your smile.”
